The Little Village neighborhood is set to host a community gathering on Saturday, March 15th, from 2 PM to 6 PM, organized by the Tribal Oasis Network. The event, which will take place at 2703 S. Pulaski, invites residents to come together for an afternoon focused on connection, empowerment, and support.
The gathering promises to be a lively affair, featuring complimentary food provided by the Touch Gift Foundation, ensuring that all attendees can enjoy a delicious meal. Additionally, Chicago Public Library Commissioner Chris Brown is contributing to the event by donating books, promoting literacy and learning among community members.Leading the event are business partners Derik WealthySoul Martin, CEO of TribeHouse/TribalOasis Network and DeAngelo Hampton joined by BigMouf’Bo, also known as Gifted Chozzen Onez, the organization's Vice President.
All leaders are passionate about enhancing community engagement and have introduced initiatives such as "Mental Health Meets Hip-Hop," a program designed to address mental health challenges in a culturally resonant way.TribeHouse partners Martin and Hampton emphasized the importance of community ties, stating, “We’re doing this because it is imperative to have strong ties to the community. Those ties are made by understanding the area you’re in, the needs of the community, and knowing how to be of service.”
They added, “As a Black-owned organization in the city of Little Village, we want to make sure we’re doing our part to pour into the community while never just taking from it.”The gathering is free and open to all, welcoming families, friends, and neighbors to come together and celebrate the rich culture and resilience of Little Village.
